Tara Fahmie, Recorder

Tara Fahmie is a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Florida with a love for music and teaching.

Tara received recorder training in elementary school, and has been playing with church choirs (in Kissimmee, FL; Lawrence, KS; and Gainesville, FL) and with community groups for the past 17 years. She studied piano with the choir director at Holy Redeemer in Kissimmee between 1994 and 1999.

Tara taught beginner’s piano from 1998 to 2002. In high school, Tara provided recorder and piano lessons to underprivileged children, for which she earned the House of Blues Ambassador Scholarship. She continued to teach private recorder lessons when she moved to Gainesville in 2002.

She currently has the privilege of playing recorder with the choir at St. Augustine each Sunday and occasionally volunteering with the children’s choir. She also currently works with children with disabilities at a Sidney Lanier School. Tara is a strong advocate of the arts for people of all ages and abilities.
